Help Future Generations Grow With the Heartwood Foundation

The Heartwood Foundation was established to ensure a growing funding source for Woodland School. It has been established to create a core whereupon the school and its programs can flourish long-term. We chose the name Heartwood in reference to the hard center of a tree. This core, or heart, allows a tree to grow and thrive for years. We want our Heartwood Foundation to have the same effect on Woodland School.

At Woodland School, we are proud to be a public institution. This means our only funding income is per pupil from the state. Millage does not apply to charter schools like ours. We know that expenses go up, but for many years, our funding has stayed the same. The goal of the Heartwood Foundation is to help offset the expenses of the building, grounds, materials, and school programs.

The Heartwood Foundation is different from the Family Council. The Family Council takes care of the immediate needs of the student population. The Heartwood Foundation is set up to help the school thrive long into the future.
